Is someone's drinking bothering you? Alateen is for you. Alateen is for young people whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking. The following 20 Questions are to help you decide whether Alateen is for you.
Purposes:
Young people coming together to share their experience, strength and hope with each other. They discuss their difficulties. They learn effective ways to cope with their problems. They encourage one another, and help each other understand the principles of the Alateen program. They learn how to use the Alateen's Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. |
Alateen members learn:
Compulsive drinking is a disease. They can detach themselves emotionally from the drinker's problems while continuing to love the person. They are not the cause of anyone else's drinking or behavior. They cannot change or control anyone but themselves. They have spiritual and intellectual resources with which to develop their own potentials, no matter what happens at home. They can build satisfying and rewarding life experiences for themselves.

Missouri Area Event Permission & Medical Form (PDF Format) (Missouri Area Event Age Range is 13 through 19) Completed, signed and notarized forms are required at all Missouri Area Events for all Alateens, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Form copies are to be turned into the AAPP at time of event registration and originals are kept with the accompanying AMIAS for the duration of the event.)
